To address the lack of an advanced vaccinology course in China, the Savaid Medical School, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), established a Chinese Vaccinology Course (CNVAC).

chinese vaccinology course logoThis course is a one-week training program for decision-makers, including those in academia, industry, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and those in other fields related to vaccines and vaccination, such as R&D, regulation, immunization strategies and policies, ethical issues related to vaccine trials, financing of immunization, and communications.

CNVAC is the first professional, systematic, high-level vaccinology course in China. The course is intended to foster development of a new generation of decision-makers and key opinion leaders in China by providing a comprehensive perspective on vaccinology.

The course will cover critically important aspects of vaccinology - basic immunology, vaccine development, licensure and regulatory requirements, vaccine introduction, vaccine clinical trials, and translation of research into effective policy. It will be annual course and will be held in the summer at Huairou Beijing Campus of UCAS.UCAS was established under the auspices of the Ministry of Education of China and is focused on graduate education. UCAS is operated by CAS (Chinese Academy of Science), which was established in 1949. Comprising 114 institutes, CAS is China's highest academic institution in the natural sciences, the highest consultant institution in science and technology, a premier research and development center for natural sciences and high technology, and the most important training base for advanced scientific talent. UCAS boasts a team of highly qualified faculty consisting of distinguished professors from CAS institutes who are strong at both teaching and research. UCAS, as the top university of graduate education, can leverage its resources of researchers and faculty within its 20 Biomedicine institutes of CAS, former CAS scientific talent, and international resources.

CNVAC is organized by the Savaid Medical School of CAS. The Savaid Medical School consists of multiple research institutes, including the Institute of Microbiology, Beijing Genomic Institute, the Institute of Biophysics, the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, and the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health.
